Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 30, 2026
Mail After Dark does not read or collect email contents, attachments, or account credentials.
What the extension does
Mail After Dark applies a dark visual theme to websites where you choose to enable it. It works locally in your browser.
Data handled locally
The extension accesses relevant tab and frame URLs locally to identify the current website and apply your setting. It stores only the website patterns where you enable dark mode in the browser’s local extension storage.
These saved patterns contain the scheme and hostname, such as https://mail.example.com. They do not contain email contents, message paths, query strings, credentials, a chronological browsing history, or visit timestamps.
Data we do not collect or share
The extension does not transmit user data to the publisher or any third party. It does not use analytics, advertising, remote code, or third-party services. It does not collect personal information, financial information, authentication information, personal communications, location, user activity, or website content.
Permissions
- activeTab identifies the website in the tab where you open the extension popup.
- scripting applies and removes the bundled dark-theme scripts on websites you approve.
- storage remembers enabled website patterns locally.
- Optional website access is requested only when you enable dark mode for a website.
Your choices
Turn dark mode off for a website to remove its saved preference. You can also remove website permission in your browser’s extension settings or uninstall the extension to remove its local extension data.
Changes to this policy
